Introduction

Aripiprazole capsules Aripiprazole is a type of atypical antipsychotic medication sold under the brand names Abilify® and Aripiprex®.

It works by changing the activity of dopamine and other neurotransmitters in the brain and is used to treat the symptoms of schizophrenia, bipolar disorder and depression.

It is sometimes used to treat problem behaviours in people with autism, including hyperactivity, aggression, and repetitive behaviours.

Opinion

We are currently reviewing the literature on the use of the aripiprazole as a treatment for people with autism.
