Pheraplay is a form of relationship-based therapy, which uses play to emphasize the bond between parent and child.
It is designed to provide stimulating experiences intense enough to overcome the sensory impairments of children with autism. It is based on the (largely discredited) theory that autism is a failure of emotional attachment compounded by sensory impairments.
