Mental health issues affecting individuals on the autistic spectrum

Key Note presentation by Professor Digby Tantam, University of Sheffield.
The 2005 study of the membership of the National Autistic Society by Richard Mills and Lorna Wing highlighted the importance of informed psychiatric support for individuals with autistic spectrum disorders and the high prevalence of anxiety related problems.
This latest forum brought together individuals on the spectrum, families, researchers and professionals to explore topics of concern in order to scope and commission future research in this area. Our invited speakers represented the various perspectives of mental health issues in autism.
