We are delighted to announce that the Edinburgh Marathon 2008 was another tremendous success, with 30 runners taking part in our distinctive Research Autism vests. Many thanks to all of you who ran, fundraised and encouraged our runners along – all of your efforts are deeply appreciated by us. The pledges are still coming in but we are expecting to raise over £40,000 which is one of our biggest sources of invaluable voluntary income for the year. Without Edinburgh, our research programme wouldn’t be able to continue so please consider joining us next year – it is a great weekend.
As in previous years, we arranged a pasta party the night before to boost our runners’ energy levels and provide a chance for the runners to meet and discuss their strategies! After the race, we celebrated their achievements at the Holyrood Hotel, generously paid for by our sponsor Glenmorangie – a popular event for some much needed refreshment and very welcome whisky prizes.
Delaney Bucknor and Claire Spitz made a great team: Delaney was our fastest full marathon female runner, and Claire has been a tireless fundraiser to support Delaney’s efforts. Our thanks goes out to them and all our other runners and fundraisers.
We would also like to hear from you if you would like to support us through sponsored involvement in any other event. We can provide support and further information about the charity. Please get in touch.
